FAQs

  • Australian Labradoodles are a breed that originated in Australia, hence the name. A common misconception is that the breed has Australian Shepherd in it but this is not the case. ALD's are a multi generational labradoodle (Labrador and Poodle) that also incorporates the Cocker Spaniel. Can you think of a better combination?! They were originally bred to be a therapy dog for families who had allergies to dogs. One of the perks of the ALD breed is that they are non/low-shedding and are very asthma/allergy friendly dogs. Many people will claim they are hypoallergenic, unfortunately no dog is truly hypoallergenic but the ALD is nearly as close as you can get! Because this breed originated for therapy work, they make wonderful family companions. A well bred Australian Labradoodle should be sociable, loving, intelligent and easy to train. They should be confident and friendly with people. A particularly special attribute of the ALD is their ability to be intuitively connected with their family member's emotions and needs.

  • All puppies are $3,000 on a spay/neuter/non breeding contract. Our reservation fee is a non-refundable $500 which will hold your spot on the litter of your choosing. Half of your remaining payment ($1,250) is due when the puppies are born and the other half ($1,250) is due at 6 weeks of age. If payment is not made, we reserve the right to remove your reservation and move to the next person on our waitlist.

  • The first step is to fill out an application. The application is so we can get to know a little bit about you and your lifestyle so we can help you find the right litter and ultimately your dream puppy.

  • We plan to raise our puppies with the Puppy Culture Program by practicing things such as Manding, crate training, potty-training and problem-solving. This approach was created with the purpose of providing a strong foundation in order to create a happy, well rounded dog by exposing them to certain stimuli and different experiences at a young age when socialization is absolutely critical. Socialization is not just exposing your dog to other people or dogs, it also includes exposing them to all sorts of noises, smells, obstacles, different textures and terrains, etc. Another aspect that we work on is handling and grooming desensitization. It is vital for a puppy to learn to become accustomed to handling as well as grooming as they will need to be groomed every 4-6 weeks for their entire life. Our puppies also begin to learn about potting outside on grass and by 6 weeks of age are going outside every 2-3 hours. At this age we also incorporate crate training. Puppies are acclimated in a fun and gentle way to their crates and will be sleeping in their crates at night by 8 weeks of age. We feed a top quality air dried food and minimally vaccinate all of our breeding dogs and puppies. We follow the Jean Dodds vaccine protocol, which you can check out in this link HERE.
Our goal at Peachwood is to raise healthy, confident and social puppies!

  • Yes and no. We are new breeders so we will have to find a rhythm that works for us. We plan to utilize the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test at 7 weeks of age to asses temperament and this will help us with puppy placement. We want to know your favorites but we also want to take temperament into consideration as we do not want to place a puppy in your home that might not fit your lifestyle. That would be hard on you and your puppy. We will do our best to honor your desires, but ultimately the placing decision will come down to temperament.

  • Your puppy will come home with it's first set of shots following Jean Dodd's protocol, deworming, microchip, a special stuffed toy, a small bag of food, puppy care guide, small bag of treats, toppl, slicker and comb, one chew and a small slip lead. You also have lifetime access to me, your breeder! I will be with you every step of the way to guide you and answer any questions you might have.

  • Puppies are ready to go home at 8 weeks of age. We will not ship puppies alone as we have put in so much effort to create confident happy puppies and flying in cargo is incredibly stressful to any animal but especially so with such a young puppy. You are welcome to fly into our local airport and escort your puppy home or we can set up a flight nanny to fly your puppy to you for an added cost. Pick up at our home is preferred but we will do our best to be flexible if you are not local.

  • There are thousands of breeders inundating the puppy market claiming to raise health tested dogs with exemplary temperaments not to mention the backyard breeders and puppy mills! I truly understand that finding a breeder that you can trust is incredibly difficult, even when you feel you have done all your homework and research! What sets us apart from some other breeders is that we only care about improving upon this breed, in every single way. This breed was designed specifically to be a BETTER breed in every way. To have vitality of health, diversification of genetics in order to decrease the prevalence of  genetic disorders, a stable temperament and demeanor as well as a beautiful non to low shedding coat. These things are our TOP priority above financial gain or prosperity.
All of our dogs will be health tested before breeding and this includes but is not limited to hips/elbows/eyes/cardiac as well as other genetic tests that are specific to the Australian Labradoodle like EIC and PRA. We also run a DNA profile on every breeding dog.  We are happy to provide proof of these tests upon request.  We also believe in breed registry's which is why we are apart of WALA and all breeding dogs will be registered with this breed registry.

We did not get into breeding to start a business, we started breeding for the LOVE and adoration of the dog as a species and because we are in love with the ALD!
